Development Finance Correspondent

About the role

Devex is seeking a Development Finance Correspondent to cover the rapidly evolving world of development finance across Africa, the Middle East and Europe. The role focuses on reporting the flow of capital, innovations and trends that are reshaping the global development landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, cultivate and maintain a network of sources across social enterprises, private investors, philanthropic foundations, implementing partners, international organisations and government agencies.
• Attend events, conduct interviews and produce newsletters, exclusive stories, podcasts and stage presentations that provide an insider perspective on development finance.
• Track capital movements, impact‑investing initiatives, blended‑finance deals and concessional lending activities.
• Collaborate with Devex editorial, production, events and audience teams to ensure cohesive coverage across related beats such as climate and impact investing.
• Contribute to key performance indicators, including subscriber growth and newsletter engagement.

Required profile

• Several years of substantial experience as a reporter or journalist.
• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain a source network in the development finance sector.
• Strong communication and storytelling skills.
• Willingness to work across multiple regions and travel as needed for source meetings and events.
