About the role
The Office of the Auditor‑General in Nairobi is seeking a senior leader to head its Corporate Communications Directorate. The role will shape the Office’s public image, drive stakeholder engagement and ensure effective internal and external communication across all platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership in formulating and reviewing corporate communication policies, strategies and programmes.
- Oversee development and implementation of public participation, stakeholder engagement and customer care initiatives.
- Lead production of institutional newsletters, briefs, speeches and other communication materials.
- Manage branding, promotional strategies and media monitoring to enhance the Office’s image.
- Coordinate CSR activities, events, and outreach programmes locally and internationally.
- Develop and maintain a stakeholder database and oversee its use for targeted communications.
- Advise the Auditor‑General and senior management on public relations and communication matters.
- Lead research programmes, media analysis and feedback mechanisms to inform communication strategies.
- Ensure compliance with the Public Audit Act, Conflict of Interest Act and relevant ethical codes.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
- Post‑graduate qualification in PR, Communications or equivalent (Master’s degree preferred).
- At least 15 years of communications experience, with three years at Deputy Director level or equivalent.
- Member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya in good standing.
- Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) or equivalent qualification (preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in public sector communications and policy advocacy.
