Disaster Risk Finance Consultant – Climate Resilience (Remote, Nairobi)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a highly motivated Disaster Risk Finance Consultant to support the Today and Tomorrow Initiative (TTI). The consultant will work remotely from Nairobi, collaborating with the Climate Resilience Global Practice Team, the Innovative Finance for Children (IF4C) team, and other UNICEF divisions to strengthen climate‑action financing for children.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate TTI activities across headquarters, regional, and country offices.
• Ensure donor reporting compliance and maintain financial accountability.
• Provide technical assistance and build capacity of country offices on disaster risk finance.
• Maintain and update TTI knowledge management systems.
• Develop evidence‑based resources and mobilize additional funding for the initiative.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in sustainability, climate science, international development, public administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in programme management, donor engagement, and technical guidance on climate action, disaster risk reduction, or innovative financing.
• Proven ability to design work plans, knowledge‑management strategies, and technical guidance materials.
• Experience coordinating multi‑stakeholder meetings and facilitating cross‑functional collaboration.
