Editorial Writer

About the role

We are seeking an Editorial Writer to join The Ruum Africa’s editorial team. You will help shape and refine stories about African photographers and visual storytellers, ensuring each creator’s authentic voice is preserved.

Key responsibilities

• Edit interviews and editorial pieces for publication while maintaining the artist’s voice.
• Write and edit biographies, headlines, pull quotes, captions, and other supporting editorial content.
• Prepare stories for web and social media platforms.
• Ensure all content meets TRA’s editorial standards before publishing.
• Collaborate with the editorial department to maintain consistency and improve output.

Required profile

• Strong writing and editing abilities with excellent attention to detail.
• Clear, natural English communication skills.
• Organised, reliable and able to meet deadlines.
• Previous experience in editorial writing, journalism, publishing or copy editing is preferred but not essential.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Slack for team communication.
• Experience using ClickUp for task management.
• Familiarity with Google Meet for virtual meetings.
