Electrical Engineer – Naval Facilities Engineering

About the role

The Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical power and distribution systems across Navy installations. This position involves technical leadership, project coordination, and direct interaction with senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical design, review, and analysis of power and distribution systems on Navy installations.
• Manage small teams of engineers and technicians, providing technical recommendations on power issues.
• Prepare business briefings and presentations for senior leadership.
• Create electrical one‑lines, graphs, and charts to communicate engineering solutions and project status.
• Define project objectives, budgets, schedules, staffing needs, and deliverables.
• Draft research and development proposals and Statements of Work to secure project funding.
• Serve as principal investigator or program manager on R/D and engineering services projects as required.

Required profile

• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑05 to GS‑11 or ND‑2 grade level.
• Demonstrated experience with power systems analysis, modeling, and design using tools such as SKM, Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP), or EasyPower.
• Project management experience for construction, installation, maintenance, repair, or design of electrical power systems.
• Collaboration experience with engineers, scientists, technicians, financial and facilities managers within the Department of the Navy and Department of Defense.
• Experience working with contractors and high‑level administrative personnel in Shore Installation Management.
• Specialization in diesel generators, photovoltaic systems, microgrids, UPS, or electrical distribution systems.
