Facility Operations Specialist

About the role

The Facility Operations Specialist supports the George H.W. Bush and William J. Clinton Presidential Libraries and Museums by managing all aspects of facility operations, security, and maintenance. This position reports to on‑site senior management and NARA program offices.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic analysis, planning, and reporting for facility operations.
• Act as Contracting Officer’s Representative for facility services contracts and as Contracting Officer for small purchases.
• Develop and implement occupant emergency plans and safety training programs.
• Support planned functions, exhibits, and special events, coordinating contractors and rentals as needed.
• Oversee day‑to‑day and long‑term operational requirements for HVAC, ventilation, elevators, electrical, security, and related systems.

Required profile

• One year of full‑time experience in facility management, public or private sector, or volunteer service.
• Eligibility for federal employment, including background investigation and PIV verification.
• Ability to work with contractors, perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.
• Willingness to complete a probationary period and obtain a government‑issued charge card for travel.
