Finance Officer

About the role

The Finance Officer will manage day‑to‑day finance operations for KuwaPay’s Kenya business, ensuring accurate payroll, statutory filings, supplier payments and reconciliations across all settlement channels. This is a hands‑on execution role within a regulated financial institution where precision and documentary discipline are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Compile and process monthly payroll for all staff, including basic pay, allowances, overtime, commissions and statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Affordable Housing Levy).
• Prepare payslips, payroll payment schedules and file payroll‑related returns on iTax and other statutory portals within required deadlines.
• Maintain payroll registers, annual P9 forms and all supporting documentation while handling staff queries confidentially.
• Maintain a payment calendar for recurring operating costs and verify supplier invoices against contracts and delivery evidence.
• Prepare internet‑banking payment instructions as maker, obtain required authorisations and ensure correct application of withholding tax where applicable.
• Perform regular reconciliations across settlement partners, trace any breaks and produce compliant vouchers for auditors or regulators.

Required profile

• Hands‑on finance professional comfortable working in a regulated environment.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to meet tight deadlines and maintain rigorous documentation.
• Excellent confidentiality handling salary and personnel data.
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili; Mandarin is a plus but not required.
• Reports to the Co‑Founder/Country Manager and works closely with the Compliance Officer, Operations team and external accountant.
