Group Tax Manager

About the role

The Group Tax Manager will lead the tax function for WPP Scangroup across Africa, ensuring compliance, optimizing the tax position and supporting the business within a multinational structure. This senior role reports to the Group CFO and works closely with finance and commercial teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee tax compliance, reporting and filings for all entities in the region, including transfer pricing documentation and Pillar Two obligations.
• Lead tax audits, disputes and controversy matters, coordinating with external advisors and tax authorities.
• Drive tax process standardisation, automation and continuous improvement across Africa.
• Support year‑end tax accounting, provision processes and legal entity rationalisation programmes.
• Provide tax advisory on transactional matters and educate finance/commercial teams on multi‑jurisdictional tax risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law or related field; professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CTA) required.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive tax experience, with strong knowledge of international tax rules and African regimes.
• Proven experience in tax compliance, controversy management and process improvement.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel competency.
• Experience with tax technology tools and interest in automation.
