Internal Auditor

About the role

The Collaborative Centre for Gender and Development (CCGD) is seeking an Internal Auditor to strengthen its financial governance and ensure compliance with donor and regulatory requirements. This full‑time position will support CCGD’s mission of gender‑responsive policy advocacy by safeguarding the integrity of its financial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assess the effectiveness of internal control frameworks, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify and prioritize potential risk areas.
• Evaluate the accuracy and completeness of financial records, transactions, and reporting.
• Assess compliance with Kenyan laws, labour regulations, NGO regulations, and donor requirements.
• Provide recommendations for improvement and best practices.
• Assist in the preparation of annual external audits and special audits.
• Review and approve monthly bank reconciliations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
• Professional certifications such as ACCA, CIA, or CPA and membership in ICPAK in good standing.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in internal/external auditing, risk management, or financial management within NGOs or donor‑funded organisations.
• Familiarity with international donor regulations (USAID, UN agencies, EU, Mastercard Foundation, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan taxation, labour laws, NGO regulations and financial reporting standards.
• Experience in enterprise risk management and governance reviews.
