Knowledge Management Intern

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is seeking a Knowledge Management Intern to support its Regional Office for Africa in Nairobi. The intern will assist with programmatic reviews, reporting, advocacy, and communication activities that advance sustainable urban development across Sub‑Saharan Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and coordinating in‑person and virtual meetings, workshops, and conferences, including invitations, scheduling, and logistics.
• Support the drafting and editing of written outputs such as speeches, briefing notes, and internal communications.
• Contribute to the preparation of reports on the office’s programmatic achievements.
• Help deliver Programme Review Committee activities and related documentation.
• Assist in creating communication materials for diverse audiences.
• Conduct research on urban development topics, with a focus on housing, climate change, and the environment.

Required profile

• Current enrollment in or recent graduate of a university program related to urban studies, environmental studies, international development, or a similar field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multicultural team.
• Interest in sustainable cities, climate action, and knowledge management.
