Mechanical Design Engineer (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings for custom mechanical components. The role is fully remote and operates on a contract basis, offering an hourly rate between $40 and $100.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using FreeCAD.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and performance.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve design issues and improve processes.
• Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards and project specifications.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including bills of materials and engineering change orders.

Required profile

• Proficiency in FreeCAD for parametric modeling and drafting.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with GD&T and ISO standards.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with sheet metal design, machining, and assembly processes.
