Mechanical Inspector I – Grade 7

About the role

The Mechanical Inspector I (Grade 7) will support the Coast Water Works Development Agency in maintaining and inspecting mechanical assets across the water and sanitation infrastructure. This full‑time position is based in Mombasa and focuses on ensuring the reliability and safety of machinery, motor vehicles and plant equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain machinery, motor vehicles and plant equipment.
• Test mechanical equipment to verify performance and safety.
• Design and modify plant components as required.
• Prepare and update inventories of mechanical inspection works and services.
• Recommend and coordinate necessary repairs on vehicles and machinery.
• Prepare progress reports on mechanical inspections.

Required profile

• Minimum six (6) years of relevant experience, including at least three (3) years at the Inspector II (Mechanical) grade or equivalent.
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a comparable discipline from a recognized institution.
• Membership with the Kenya Engineering Technologist Registration Board (KETREB).
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Demonstrated merit and ability reflected in work performance.
