About the role
The Member Support & Development Director leads the integrated support, growth and development of Member Associations (MAs) and Collaborative Partners (CPs) across the Africa Region. Working closely with the Regional Director, the Global Secretariat and the Global Membership Support & Development Community of Practice, the role ensures a seamless flow of information, knowledge sharing and resource allocation to strengthen the Federation’s impact.
Key responsibilities
- Lead all MA‑centric and MA‑facing work in the African Regional Office, creating a framework that aligns MA/CP growth with the Federation Strategic Framework.
- Conduct an annual MA health check to capture capabilities, governance, country context and competition, informing strategic connections.
- Design and implement an integrated plan of activities that delivers capacity building, stronger governance and shared learning across the Federation.
- Develop an MA/CP service delivery platform that provides funding and resource support while meeting programmatic requirements and burn‑rate targets.
- Assess data quality controls to ensure integrity for decision‑making.
- Facilitate the design and delivery of integrated programming, resource allocation and technical capacity building in MAs.
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities, including proposals and donor reporting.
- Build, lead and mentor a diverse technical team, fostering a high‑performance environment.
- Model safeguarding, anti‑racism and the IPPF code of conduct; act as point of contact for IPPF Safe Report incident management.
- Escalate MA and CP issues to the Regional Director as needed and target new partners in priority countries.
Required profile
- Extensive senior‑level experience in member support, capacity building or partnership development within a non‑profit or international federation.
- Proven ability to lead cross‑regional initiatives and manage complex stakeholder networks.
- Strong understanding of governance, funding mechanisms and data‑driven decision making.
- Commitment to safeguarding, anti‑racism and the IPPF code of conduct.
