Member Support & Development Director

About the role

This senior position supports the Regional Director in strengthening Member Associations (MAs) and Collaborative Partners (CPs) across the Africa region. It creates an enabling environment for knowledge sharing, capacity building and strategic alignment with the Federation’s global agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all MA‑centric work in the African Regional Office and embed MA/CP growth into the Federation Strategic Framework.
• Design and maintain an annual MA health‑check covering capabilities, governance, country context and competition.
• Develop an integrated activity plan that drives capacity building, stronger governance and shared learning across the Federation.
• Create a service‑delivery platform that aligns funding and resources with programmatic requirements and monitors burn‑rate.
• Ensure data quality controls for decision‑making and oversee integrated programming and resource allocation.
• Identify business‑development opportunities, prepare proposals and manage donor reporting.
• Build, lead and mentor a diverse technical team, fostering high performance and adherence to safeguarding, anti‑racism and code‑of‑conduct standards.
• Escalate MA and CP issues to the Regional Director as needed and pursue new partnership opportunities in priority countries.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in member support, capacity building or similar non‑profit environments.
• Strong understanding of federation or network structures and ability to translate strategic goals into operational plans.
• Demonstrated experience in governance assessment, data integrity oversight and resource mobilisation.
• Excellent stakeholder‑engagement skills with a track record of fostering collaboration across regions and global functions.
• Commitment to safeguarding, anti‑racism and organisational code of conduct.
