About the role
Malaica, a fast‑growing maternal health provider in Nairobi, is seeking a dedicated Nurse Midwife to join its obstetrician‑led, technology‑enabled care team. You will play a central role in delivering respectful, high‑quality care throughout pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period.
Key responsibilities
- Provide safe, coordinated outpatient and perinatal care for mothers and partners.
- Support obstetric procedures, including Cesarean sections, and manage high‑risk antenatal and intrapartum patients.
- Educate and guide women on pregnancy, labour, breastfeeding, newborn care and postpartum recovery.
- Coordinate care across antenatal clinics, labour wards, postpartum services and specialist referrals.
- Maintain accurate digital patient records and ensure smooth handover within the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in clinical reviews, audits, quality‑improvement initiatives and use data‑driven tools to enhance care.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse‑Midwife (NCK) with a degree or diploma and at least 3 years of maternal health experience.
- Certification in lactation counselling, birth preparation or related childbirth education is a plus.
- Strong clinical judgment with ability to identify and escalate complications such as PPH, eclampsia or fetal distress.
- Passionate advocate for Respectful Maternity Care, delivering compassionate, patient‑centred experiences.
- Team player comfortable working in an obstetrician‑led multidisciplinary environment.
Required skills
- Proficiency with standard IT tools.
- Experience using digital patient record systems.
- Familiarity with AI‑enabled, data‑driven care models.
