Pharmaceutical Technologist Intern

About the role

The Muranga County Public Service Board is seeking enthusiastic Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technology graduates to join its pharmacy unit as interns. You will work under the supervision of senior officers, gaining hands‑on experience in drug dispensing, prescription processing and patient counselling. This contract position offers a practical introduction to public‑sector pharmacy operations.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense drugs and medicines to patients under senior supervision.
• Receive, interpret and process prescriptions.
• Record prescriptions accurately in the pharmacy unit.
• Pre‑pack, repack and label medication containers with clear usage instructions.
• Counsel patients on proper drug usage and potential side effects.
• Maintain drug registers and update pharmacy books.
• Conduct monthly stock‑taking of medicines and medical devices.

Required profile

• Diploma in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technology (or equivalent) approved by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
• Certificate of Enrollment as a Pharmaceutical Technologist awarded by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
• Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
