Plant Mechanic

About the role

The Plant Mechanic will maintain, repair and install a wide range of heavy plant, light vehicles and specialised equipment for Intex Construction. Working in the workshop, you will ensure machinery stays operational, safe and productive while complying with environmental and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to mechanical emergencies, diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs.
• Perform major rebuilds of diesel engines, transmissions and hydraulic pumps for equipment such as backhoes, wheel loaders and bulldozers.
• Plan and execute routine maintenance schedules, including servicing, lubrication and safety inspections.
• Supervise workshop activities, assign tasks and provide technical training to junior mechanics.
• Service specialised equipment including diesel generators (CAT, Perkins, Kohler, BH), water pumps, outboard engines, cranes and construction machinery.
• Clean, lubricate and conduct routine services on heavy‑duty vehicles and attachments.
• Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot issues and keep accurate maintenance records.
• Adhere to all Environmental Health & Safety procedures and promote safe work methods.

Required profile

• Entry‑level heavy‑equipment mechanic with up to 24 months of relevant experience.
• Ability to work safely in a workshop environment and follow safety protocols.
• Basic knowledge of environmental and safety regulations.
• Willingness to supervise junior staff and share technical knowledge.
