Procurement Category Specialist - Maize & Pulses

About the role

Unga Holdings Limited is seeking a Procurement Category Specialist to manage the sourcing and purchasing of maize and pulses. The role will ensure alignment with business objectives, maintain supplier relationships, and support efficient logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Source, negotiate and procure maize and pulses, processing purchase requisitions and orders in SAP.
• Monitor contract terms, renewals, and amendments, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Coordinate with logistics to guarantee timely shipment and delivery.
• Track grain purchases, compile monthly reports, and manage extended producer responsibility data.
• Conduct cost‑management analyses, identify savings opportunities, and negotiate pricing.
• Plan inventory levels in collaboration with department heads and control stock to optimal levels.
• Develop and maintain relationships with farmers, aggregators, and producers, negotiating farming contracts and off‑taker agreements.
• Participate in weekly planning and monthly formulation meetings with stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Procurement or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in maize and pulses.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, decision‑making and communication skills.
• Professionalism, results orientation and ability to manage stakeholder relationships.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP (including SAP MM module).
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Windows.
