Programme Accountant

About the role

The Programme Accountant will lead financial management and grant oversight for Trócaire’s Somalia programme, with a focus on the Gedo region. This position combines rigorous financial control with partner‑facing responsibilities and requires regular field travel.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive grant management for donor‑funded projects, ensuring compliance with Trócaire and donor requirements (e.g., FCDO, Irish Aid, ECHO, UN).
• Monitor project budgets, expenditures, cash flows and forecasts using Agresso (Unit4) and Salesforce, making timely adjustments.
• Prepare accurate financial and donor reports, including variance analyses and narrative justifications.
• Coordinate project audits, maintain audit trackers and support corrective actions.
• Support monthly account closures, batch uploads, reviews and postings in Agresso.
• Manage donor‑assigned funds and short‑term institutional funding grants, performing monthly reconciliations.
• Update Salesforce with finance‑related data such as donor reports, budgets and audits.
• Participate in grant start‑up meetings and convey grant management requirements to partners.
• Conduct partner financial capacity assessments and risk profiling using Trócaire’s PCAS tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial management and grant oversight for international development or humanitarian programmes.
• Familiarity with donor compliance requirements and audit processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with programme teams and external partners.
• Willingness to travel regularly to field locations.
