About the role
The Project Officer will coordinate and support field‑level activities that build youth resilience and promote climate‑smart agriculture across selected counties in Kenya. This role works closely with sub‑county technical teams, implementing partners, farmer organisations and government agencies to ensure timely and context‑appropriate delivery of project interventions.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate implementation of youth‑focused resilience activities, climate‑smart agriculture (CSA), Good Agronomic Practices (GAP), ecosystem restoration, market system development and financial inclusion.
- Develop detailed work plans and activity schedules aligned with project outputs and seasonal calendars.
- Liaise with sub‑county technical teams, partners, farmer groups and aggregators to ensure timely delivery.
- Monitor progress against targets, adjust implementation strategies, and prepare regular progress reports.
- Support engagement with Baringo County Government and advocate for policies on CSA, inclusive procurement and agriculture.
- Facilitate partnerships with private‑sector actors, insurance providers, financial institutions and government for capacity development.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports; develop and use M&E tools; collect, analyse and document project data.
- Represent the project in local forums, technical working groups and coordination meetings.
Required profile
- Experience in project planning and implementation within agricultural or livelihood programmes.
- Knowledge of climate‑smart agriculture, Good Agronomic Practices, ecosystem restoration and market system development.
- Ability to work with government bodies, private‑sector partners and farmer organisations.
- Strong monitoring, reporting and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with the seasonal and mobility patterns of arid and semi‑arid lands (ASAL) in Kenya.
