Protection Assistant – Community‑Based Protection

About the role

The Protection Assistant will support the Protection Officer‑Community‑Based Protection in delivering gender‑based violence (GBV) prevention, disability inclusion and youth‑focused activities within refugee and host‑community camps. Working closely with protection, GBV response, child protection and MEAL teams, the role ensures inclusive, high‑quality protection services in line with donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilise and participate in meetings with community leaders, GBV support groups and other stakeholders to raise awareness and facilitate dialogue.
• Strengthen referral systems and networks for SGBV prevention and interventions, referring cases to the response team and other agencies.
• Co‑ordinate and deliver training sessions on GBV issues for community and agency staff.
• Maintain and expand networks with service providers at camp level to ensure effective referral of GBV cases and vulnerable persons of concern.
• Implement prevention activities (e.g., EMAP, SASA) in collaboration with community structures.
• Collect, consolidate and submit weekly and training reports using appropriate data‑collection tools.
• Apply an Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) approach in all protection activities.
• Coordinate closely with refugee‑led and community‑based organisations.

Required profile

• Experience in community‑based protection, GBV prevention, disability inclusion or youth programmes, preferably in humanitarian settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners and community structures.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills, adhering to donor and organisational standards.
• Commitment to inclusive, rights‑based protection approaches.
