Purchase Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Purchase Accountant to take full finance ownership of the end‑to‑end Purchase‑to‑Pay cycle. You will ensure every company expenditure is authorised, justified, correctly recorded and traceable from requisition through to payment.

Key responsibilities

• Control the complete Purchase‑to‑Pay process, ensuring purchases are supported by approved purchase orders, quotations, GRN/MIGO and vendor invoices.
• Review MIGO and MIRO postings for correct quantities, prices, taxes and accounting details, and resolve mismatches.
• Own GRIR and related clearing accounts, perform ageing analysis, reconciliation and timely clearance of unexplained balances.
• Verify vendor invoices against POs, GRNs and contracts, identify duplicates, incorrect rates or taxes and reconcile vendor ledgers.
• Analyse spend, price variances and cost‑saving opportunities; monitor import purchase accounting and landed costs.
• Identify unauthorised purchases, non‑PO spend and system loopholes, and prepare management reports on spend, compliance and variances.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; CPA (K) or ACCA preferred.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience, preferably in FMCG, dairy, beverages, manufacturing or procurement accounting.
• Strong knowledge of Purchase‑to‑Pay accounting, GRIR, vendor reconciliation and expenditure controls.
