Quality Control Assistant (Paint Manufacturing)

About the role
Glory Paints, a leading Kenyan paint manufacturer, is seeking a Quality Control Assistant to support its QC department. You will help ensure that all paint products meet internal standards and industry specifications before they leave the factory.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine in‑process and finished‑product quality checks, including viscosity, pH, density, colour matching, gloss and hiding power.
- Inspect incoming raw materials such as resins, pigments, solvents and additives against approved specifications.
- Prepare QC test panels and conduct visual assessments against reference standards.
- Record laboratory data, QC logs, batch test reports and certificates of analysis accurately and promptly.
- Support calibration and maintenance of equipment like spectrophotometers, viscometers and grind gauges.
- Assist in updating QC documentation, work instructions and standard test methods.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment in line with health‑and‑safety regulations.
- Liaise with production teams to resolve quality‑related issues and support the QC Manager in monthly quality reporting and trend analysis.
Required profile
- Diploma or degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry or a related scientific field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a quality control or laboratory role, preferably within paint, coatings or chemicals.
- Familiarity with standard paint testing methods and ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
