Quality Controller – Avocado

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced Quality Controller to oversee avocado processing operations in Nairobi. You will lead the quality assurance function, ensuring compliance with international food safety standards and supporting export requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement quality assurance policies, procedures, and standards.
• Oversee compliance with HACCP, BRC, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000 and other food safety standards.
• Lead and mentor the QC team, managing workflows and training.
• Monitor production processes, resolve quality issues and reduce waste.
• Conduct internal and external audits, manage corrective actions and maintain documentation.
• Ensure supplier compliance with quality standards.
• Stay updated on industry regulations and export requirements.
• Investigate quality‑related incidents and customer complaints.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Management, Horticulture, Microbiology or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in food processing quality control, preferably with fresh or frozen produce.
• Proven leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Experience with avocado processing and export compliance is an advantage.
• Relevant certifications such as HACCP or ISO Lead Auditor are a plus.
