Realty Specialist – Federal Government (GS-14)

About the role

The Realty Specialist leads the full lifecycle of real property acquisition, management, utilization, and disposal for U.S. Border Patrol. This senior position ensures the agency has the facilities and land needed to support mission readiness while optimizing costs and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute real property acquisitions, including purchases, leases, exchanges, and donations.
• Provide portfolio management guidance and interpret FAR, FPMR, GSA, and USBP policies.
• Lead complex realty decisions, develop business cases, and conduct strategic analyses.
• Manage utilization and disposal of federally owned or leased properties, including site evaluations and lease‑versus‑purchase analyses.
• Conduct market surveys, title research, negotiate and administer complex leases as a RECO, and perform cost/price analyses.
• Maintain liaison with property owners, government officials, and stakeholders; brief leadership and act as spokesperson on real property matters.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen.
• Male applicants born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
• Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
• Pass a background investigation and comply with DHS drug‑free workplace policies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
• Familiarity with Federal Property Management Regulation (FPMR) and GSA procedures.
• Experience in real estate acquisition, lease negotiation, and title research.
• Ability to conduct market analysis and cost/price evaluations.

• GS‑14 salary range $125,776 – $163,514 per year (adjusted for locality).
