Remote Infrastructure Engineer – Cloud & Automation

About the role

We are seeking a Remote Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and maintain cloud and on‑premises systems for a global technology leader. The contractor will work closely with development and operations teams to ensure high availability, security, and cost‑effective scalability.

Key responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and manage scalable infrastructure on AWS, Azure or GCP using IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible or Pulumi.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot incidents, and implement disaster‑recovery and backup strategies.
• Enforce security best practices, including IAM policies, network segmentation and compliance standards.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks to reduce manual effort.
• Collaborate with developers to optimise infrastructure for cost, performance and scalability.

Required profile

• Proven experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their core services.
• Hands‑on expertise with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi).
• Strong scripting abilities in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Experience with monitoring/logging solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK or Datadog.
• Understanding of networking concepts like VPCs, subnets, load balancers and firewalls.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).
