Remote Machine Learning Engineer (Contract)

About the role

Turing is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join its remote team and work on benchmark‑driven evaluation projects for advanced AI systems. You will bridge research and production, contributing to real‑world ML pipelines that power cutting‑edge AI applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, run, and modify model training, evaluation, and inference pipelines on production‑grade codebases.
• Prepare datasets, features, and metrics for benchmarking and validation tasks.
• Debug, refactor, and optimise ML systems for correctness, performance, and scalability.
• Analyse model behaviour, identify failure modes, and document edge‑case findings.
• Write clean, reproducible, and well‑documented Python code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to design challenging evaluation tasks.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or ML‑focused Software Engineer.
• Strong proficiency in Python for data and ML workflows.
• Hands‑on experience with model training, evaluation, and inference pipelines.
• Solid understanding of supervised/unsupervised learning, metrics, and optimisation.
• Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
