Research and Learning Manager

About the role

BRAC International is seeking a Manager, Research and Learning to support its Learning and Effectiveness portfolio. Based in Nairobi, the incumbent will help programmes identify learning questions, conduct research, and translate findings into actionable knowledge.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct desk research and draft literature reviews on topics such as women’s economic empowerment, youth empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods.
• Develop research plans, protocols, and submit IRB applications independently or with external partners.
• Drive the creation of programme‑specific learning agendas.
• Recruit, onboard, and supervise external research partners, maintaining timelines and accountability.
• Lead or co‑lead interviewer and enumerator trainings.
• Coordinate with in‑country programme partners and external researchers.
• Disseminate research findings through webinars, conferences, and other platforms.
• Co‑author knowledge products such as learning briefs, factsheets, and blog posts.
• Support the development of a knowledge‑management function.

Required profile

• Ability to conduct desk research and produce literature reviews.
• Experience developing research protocols and managing IRB submissions.
• Proven capability to coordinate external research partners and maintain project timelines.
• Strong communication skills for presenting findings and authoring knowledge products.
