Resident Physician

About the role

The Resident Physician will join Avenue Healthcare’s internal medicine team in Kisumu, providing comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care. This full‑time position involves direct patient management, clinical investigations, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct physician outpatient clinics according to hospital schedules and national guidelines.
• Document patient history, physical examinations, investigations, and management plans accurately.
• Oversee patient admissions, obtain consents, and provide progress updates to patients and families.
• Perform timely ward rounds and reviews for internal medicine patients.
• Carry out authorized clinical procedures and surgical interventions while ensuring patient safety.
• Lead evidence‑based practice activities, including CME facilitation and morbidity‑mortality meetings.
• Manage drug administration, billing, pre‑authorizations, and financial viability of the unit.
• Adhere to corporate governance, fraud prevention, and audit recommendations.
• Comply with Kenyan medical standards (KMPDC) and all Avenue Healthcare policies.

Required profile

• MBChB and a Master’s degree in Internal Medicine from a recognized institution.
• Specialist recognition in Internal Medicine; fellowship in cardiology, endocrinology or nephrology is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical experience.
• Customer‑focused and results‑oriented attitude.
