Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead end‑to‑end accounting and financial operations for a retail and distribution business in Kenya. You will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and cash‑flow management across stores, warehouses and distribution channels.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes and prepare financial statements.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow monitoring for retail outlets, warehouses and distributors.
• Ensure accurate accounting of sales, purchases, inventory, logistics costs, receivables, payables and distribution expenses.
• Monitor financial performance of stores, warehouses and supply‑chain operations, identifying cost‑saving opportunities.
• Maintain compliance with taxation, statutory regulations, internal controls, audits and company financial policies.
• Lead the finance and accounting team, providing timely analysis to support business decisions.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of experience in budgeting and accounting, preferably in retail or distribution.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Proven ability to manage complex financial operations across multiple locations.
• Strong knowledge of tax, statutory compliance and internal control frameworks.
