Senior Development Manager

About the role

The Senior Development Manager is a pivotal position on Educate!'s revenue team, bridging strategy, execution, and relationship management. The role drives ambitious fundraising goals by leading external engagements with funders, crafting compelling proposals, and coordinating across internal teams while building a growing portfolio of philanthropic partners.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as primary relationship manager for a portfolio of funders, building trusted, long‑term partnerships and expanding the funder base.
• Lead the development of high‑quality funding proposals, concept notes, and grant applications from strategy through submission, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Plan and execute end‑to‑end donor visits, handling logistics, briefing materials, on‑site facilitation, and post‑visit follow‑up.
• Support the Director of Philanthropy on strategic initiatives, pipeline tracking, revenue forecasting, and the creation of systems and processes that scale with the organization.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of experience securing funding through proposals and sustained funder relationships.
• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship‑management abilities, with a track record of building trust across teams and external stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and execution skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Collaborative, self‑starter mindset with high integrity and a deep commitment to Educate!'s mission.
• Experience living or working in East Africa is a strong plus.
