Senior Programme Management Assistant

About the role

The Senior Programme Management Assistant will support the Nature Frameworks Support Unit within UNEP's Ecosystems Division. Based in Nairobi, the incumbent will assist in the administration, budgeting, and coordination of complex biodiversity and land‑related programmes and projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide end‑to‑end programme and project management assistance, including drafting agreements, budgets and monitoring implementation.
• Prepare and circulate newsletters, briefing notes, minutes and other documentation for meetings and committees.
• Track legislative resolutions affecting programmes, maintain databases and ensure compliance with UN guidelines.
• Oversee budget preparation, financial monitoring, and periodic revisions using UN financial systems.
• Coordinate human‑resource actions, visa advice and contract administration for external service providers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing large, multi‑partner UN or international environmental programmes.
• Strong knowledge of UN internal policies, budgeting processes and programme evaluation methods.
