Senior Research Associate – Market Intelligence

About the role

The Senior Research Associate will lead market intelligence studies that support sustainable agrifood systems in Kenya. The role combines research design, survey programming, partner coordination and continuous improvement of research tools.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage multiple market intelligence studies, maintaining workplans, budgets and timelines.
• Design, develop and standardise quantitative and qualitative survey instruments, including questionnaire wording, coding and data dictionaries.
• Program, test and quality‑assure digital surveys using platforms such as SurveyCTO, ODK or KoboToolbox.
• Serve as the primary contact for external partners, overseeing onboarding, training, field implementation and data‑quality monitoring.
• Document lessons learned and improve reusable research tools, SOPs and AI‑assisted methods.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in economics, agricultural economics, development studies, marketing, social sciences, statistics, data science or related field (or a bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience).
• Five to seven years of professional experience in applied market or development research, including questionnaire development and field implementation.
