Software Engineer: IaC Platform Experience

About the role

We are looking for a senior Software Engineer with deep experience in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to join a global developer platform team. Based in Kenya and working fully remote, you will own a Go‑based Terraform provider that powers critical infrastructure workflows for thousands of engineers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Own and maintain the Go Terraform provider codebase, including architecture, implementation quality, testing strategy, and release readiness.
• Improve provider reliability and usability by refining resource behavior, data sources, lifecycle handling, and upgrade safety.
• Lead technical design efforts through RFCs, documentation, and iterative delivery of IaC workflows.
• Define migration paths and interoperability strategies for existing Terraform users.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to align on roadmap priorities, scope, and delivery outcomes.
• Analyze user feedback, open‑source issues, and usage signals to continuously improve the developer experience.
• Develop clear documentation and examples to support adoption and ease of use.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in platform engineering, infrastructure tooling, or distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in Go with a track record of shipping production‑grade developer tools.
• Hands‑on experience with Terraform providers, declarative resource models, and lifecycle edge cases.
• Deep understanding of schema design, versioning strategies, and backward compatibility.
• Experience owning or contributing to a widely used provider or similar infrastructure tooling.
• Strong written communication skills for technical design docs and RFCs.
