Technical Design Officer (TDO)

About the role

The Technical Design Officer provides the technical backbone for projects by translating client and architectural requirements into precise shop drawings, bills of materials, glass specifications and project budgets. This role ensures fabrication and installation teams receive accurate guidance while supporting sales and finance with cost data and technical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret architectural and structural drawings into aluminium shop drawings, fabrication details, cutting lists, assembly and installation drawings.
• Define glass specifications, hardware requirements and finishing details, and produce as‑built drawings when needed.
• Prepare complete Bills of Materials for aluminium profiles, glass, hardware and accessories, and support procurement with technical input.
• Provide sales teams with BOMs, glass specs and labour/transport estimates to create accurate quotations and address client technical queries.
• Develop initial project budgets, submit for approval and assist finance in tracking costs against budget.

Required profile

• Analytical and detail‑oriented with a strong focus on precision.
• Excellent cross‑functional communication skills, able to work with sales, finance, operations and external partners.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of aluminium systems, hardware and glass specifications.
• Cost estimation and budgeting expertise.
