Technical Officer – Field Epidemiology Training Programme

About the role

The World Health Organization (WHO) India is seeking a Technical Officer to support the Field Epidemiology Training Programme (FETP). The officer will work closely with the I‑FETP training institute and the WHO India FETP secretariat, contributing to the strengthening of surveillance and response capacities across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate liaison activities between the I‑FETP training institute and WHO India’s FETP secretariat.
• Assist the Team Leader, Deputy Team Leader and NPO‑Surveillance in managing programme implementation.
• Provide day‑to‑day supervision of the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Coordinator.
• Support the development and delivery of training modules, workshops and field placements.
• Monitor progress of trainees, compile reports and ensure alignment with national health policies.
• Facilitate communication with Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related health science.
• Experience working in public‑health programmes, preferably in surveillance or training contexts.
• Strong understanding of national health systems and disease‑control strategies.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
