Water Distribution Crew Leader (Foreman)

About the role

The Water Distribution Crew Leader (Foreman) supervises a team of Water Distribution Workers in the repair, maintenance, and upgrade of the municipal water system. Reporting to the Water Distribution Supervisor, the role ensures reliable water service while coordinating with other city departments and external contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and supervise Water Distribution Workers in installation, removal, repair, and relocation of water meters, lines, and appurtenances.
• Provide technical guidance on mechanical pipe work and heavy‑equipment operation.
• Coordinate field work with other city agencies and respond to water emergencies after hours.
• Operate and maintain heavy and light equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot leaks.
• Conduct periodic flushing of mains, inspect fire hydrants and valves, and assist with project estimating and material procurement.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least five years of experience in water distribution construction, maintenance, or operation, with three years in a supervisory capacity.
• Valid State of Florida Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and occasional unscheduled overtime.
