Accounts Assistant – Accounts Payables

About the role

The Accounts Assistant – Accounts Payables will support Britam Kenya’s Finance Shared Services model by processing supplier invoices, maintaining supplier master data, and assisting with month‑end close activities. The role ensures compliance with internal controls, procure‑to‑pay procedures, and statutory requirements using the Oracle ERP system.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, validate and post supplier invoices in Oracle ERP, ensuring correct entity, account, cost centre and tax coding.
• Maintain the Accounts Payables sub‑ledger, perform reconciliations, accruals and adjustments for month‑end close.
• Prepare and review supplier account reconciliations and resolve any reconciling items.
• Maintain accurate supplier master data in collaboration with Procurement.
• Prepare payment schedules and support centralized payment processing within delegated authority limits.
• Compute and account for statutory deductions such as VAT and withholding tax.
• Respond to supplier queries and coordinate with Procurement, Treasury and user departments.
• Generate Oracle system reports on invoices, supplier balances and payment status.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and support automation initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a business‑related field.
• 2‑4 years of accounting experience in a similar role.
• Advanced progress in accounting certification; CPA(K) or equivalent is an advantage.
• Knowledge of ERP Accounts Payable systems; experience with Oracle Financials is a plus.
