Advocacy, Knowledge Management & Communications Coordinator (Consultant)

About the role

Under the guidance of the Head of the SDG Cities and Multilevel Governance Team, the Coordinator will support UN‑Habitat’s SDG Localization agenda. This four‑month consultancy, based in Nairobi, focuses on delivering high‑impact results in coordination, advocacy, strategic engagement, narrative development and communications.

Key responsibilities

• Steer a coherent workstream that advances multilevel governance and SDG localization.
• Coordinate advocacy activities and engage senior stakeholders across UN‑Habitat and partner networks.
• Develop and disseminate knowledge products, narratives and communication materials.
• Support strategic planning and monitoring of SDG‑related initiatives.
• Provide regular reports and recommendations to senior management.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree or equivalent experience in international development, communications, or related fields.
• Proven experience in coordination, advocacy or knowledge management within a multilateral or development context.
• Strong understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 11.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Experience drafting policy briefs, reports and communication materials.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliver results under tight timelines.
