Advocacy & Partnerships Consultant – Heads of State Initiatives (WASH)

About the role
The consultant will support UNICEF’s effort to operationalise the Heads of State Initiatives (HoSI) as a flagship mechanism for political commitment, financing and accountability in the WASH sector. Working remotely for a one‑year term, the role bridges UNICEF’s WASH Partnerships, Advocacy and Systems & Governance teams with global partners and major events such as the UN Water Conference 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical, advocacy and coordination support to advance HoSI and ASWA III priorities.
- Drive strategic alignment across UNICEF, HoSI and Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) partners.
- Develop and update HoSI communication strategy, website content and country‑level support packages.
- Produce learning products including case studies, synthesis briefs, advocacy briefs and explanatory notes for internal and external audiences.
- Design high‑level side‑event strategy notes for UNWC 2026 and related briefing materials for senior leadership.
- Prepare monitoring reports on compact implementation, financing commitments and post‑conference synthesis.
- Support political engagement and compact implementation in priority countries, ensuring complementarity with other UNICEF advocacy consultants.
- Travel as required to deliver on‑site technical assistance and stakeholder engagement.
Required profile
- Proven experience in advocacy, partnerships and coordination within the WASH sector.
- Familiarity with political processes, UN‑level events and multi‑stakeholder engagement.
- Strong ability to produce concise briefing notes, advocacy briefs and learning materials.
- Willingness to travel for country‑level support and events.
