Artificial Intelligence Lead

About the role

The Education Development Center (EDC) seeks four expert Artificial Intelligence Leads to guide the integration of generative AI tools into Kenya's TVET trainer capacity‑building program. This part‑time consultancy (48 weeks) will shape AI‑enabled instructional content, train trainers, and ensure AI technologies are effectively embedded in curriculum design, teaching, and assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and technical integration of generative AI tools and methodologies within the TVET training program.
• Develop AI‑enabled instructional materials and competency‑based assessment resources.
• Train approximately 2,000 TVET trainers on practical use of AI platforms and prompt engineering.
• Provide technical leadership to ensure AI applications improve instructional practices and industry‑relevant skill delivery.
• Collaborate with project partners to align AI integration with gender‑responsive and inclusive training approaches.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Applied Data Science, Computer Science or a related field.
• AI certification and Certified Prompt Engineer certification.
• Minimum 5 years experience designing, implementing and rolling out AI models.
• At least 3 years hands‑on experience with research, design, development, training and implementation of multimodal generative AI models.
• Fluent English communication skills.
