Assistant Human Resource Officer – Nairobi

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Assistant Human Resource Officer to support our HR and administration functions at Kens Metal Industries in Nairobi. The role involves managing recruitment, payroll, employee relations and health & safety for a workforce of 200‑500 staff in a manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute recruitment strategies for casual, contract and permanent positions, handling advertising, short‑listing, interviewing, onboarding and induction.
• Prepare, administer and maintain employment contracts in coordination with management.
• Process payroll, including attendance, wages, statutory deductions and related records using the payroll system.
• Coordinate staff training programmes, identify needs and keep training records up to date.
• Ensure compliance with company HR policies, labour laws, the Collective Bargaining Agreement and occupational health & safety regulations.
• Manage disciplinary actions, employee grievances, welfare matters and maintain positive industrial relations.
• Oversee work injury benefit claims, liaise with authorities and handle related court matters.
• Control issuance of uniforms, PPE and other staff supplies, and maintain accurate employee records throughout the employment lifecycle.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of HR experience in a manufacturing setting with 200‑500 employees.
• Age between 30 and 35 years.
• Proven ability to manage full‑cycle recruitment, payroll processing and employee relations.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan labour law, CBA and occupational health & safety requirements.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
