Automation Engineer – Manual Testing Focus (3‑month contract)

About the role

We are looking for an Automation Engineer with a strong manual testing background to join our Nairobi team for a three‑month onsite assignment. The role blends hands‑on functional testing with the maintenance of existing automated test suites, supporting end‑to‑end validation of our banking and fintech applications.

Key responsibilities

• Execute manual functional, regression, integration, smoke and user‑acceptance testing across multiple systems.
• Design, prepare and run detailed test cases and scenarios.
• Log, track, retest and close defects using Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Validate business and system requirements against delivered functionality.
• Run and maintain existing automated scripts built with Selenium, Katalon or Cypress.
• Analyse automation results and report findings to developers and business analysts.
• Participate in test planning, estimation and reporting activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in software quality assurance and manual testing.
• Hands‑on experience with functional, regression, SIT and UAT testing.
• Familiarity with defect lifecycle management and test‑management tools.
• Experience in banking, financial services or fintech environments is a plus.

Required skills

• Selenium, Katalon, Cypress (maintaining existing scripts).
• Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail.
• Postman for basic API testing.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
