Brooder Specialist – Poultry Farm Operations

About the role

The Brooder Specialist will be responsible for ensuring optimal chick health, welfare, and growth performance in a poultry farm environment. Reporting to the Farm Operations Manager, the role focuses on maintaining ideal brooding conditions, implementing biosecurity measures, and managing nutrition programs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily brooding operations and supervise brooder attendants.
• Monitor chick health, welfare, and growth performance.
• Maintain optimal brooding temperatures, ventilation, and humidity levels.
• Ensure adequate feeding programs and manage water quality and supply.
• Implement farm biosecurity procedures and disease prevention protocols.
• Administer vaccines according to schedule.
• Maintain and service brooder equipment.
• Record production data accurately and report any disease outbreaks.
• Maintain cleanliness of brooder houses and work to reduce chick mortality rates.
• Perform any other assigned duties related to brooder management.

Required profile

• Diploma in Animal Production or a related Poultry Production qualification.
• Minimum two years of experience in poultry farm operations, specifically brooding management.
• Knowledge of brooding management, poultry nutrition, disease prevention, and biosecurity procedures.
• Strong record‑keeping abilities and computer literacy.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
