Call Centre Intern (Debt Collection)

About the role

The Debt Collection Intern will learn the fundamentals of debt collection operations while supporting daily collection activities under close supervision. This role focuses on outbound calls, accurate record‑keeping, and timely escalation of complex cases.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct outbound collection calls using approved scripts and remind customers of overdue balances.
• Record promise‑to‑pay commitments and update customer records after each interaction.
• Verify and maintain accurate customer contact information.
• Follow up consistently on daily call lists to ensure all assigned accounts are contacted.

Required profile

• Diploma in any field (preferred but not essential).
• 0–6 months experience in debt collection, customer service, or a related area.
• Eagerness to learn, reliability, punctuality and a positive work ethic.
• Ability to follow instructions and work within structured processes.

Required skills

• Clear and professional verbal communication for outbound calls.
• Attention to detail when updating records and call notes.
• Basic data verification to ensure contact information is current.
• Ability to recognise and promptly escalate difficult cases.
