Category Lead – Marketing (Hygiene / Beverages / Food & Snacks)

About the role

The Category Lead – Marketing will drive growth for hygiene, beverages, and food & snacks categories across Kenya and regional markets. You will shape brand positioning, lead trade activation, and enhance consumer engagement to meet business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute annual category marketing plans aligned with growth and profitability targets.
• Identify consumer, channel and market opportunities, including pack‑price architecture, innovation and geographic expansion.
• Translate consumer and shopper insights into actionable marketing and trade initiatives.
• Lead brand positioning and communications for flagship brands, overseeing ATL, BTL and digital campaigns.
• Ensure consistent brand messaging, packaging and consumer experience across all touchpoints.
• Design and implement in‑store and channel activation programs in partnership with sales and RTM teams.
• Collaborate with distributors to boost product visibility, availability and sales performance.
• Monitor and optimise ROI of trade marketing activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field; CIM or MBA is a plus.
• 5–8 years of FMCG marketing experience, with at least 3 years in brand or category management.
• Proven experience in hygiene, beverages or food & snacks sectors.
• Strong understanding of traditional and modern trade channels.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, external agencies and cross‑functional projects.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
