About the role
The Chief of Party will lead the USDA Food for Peace (Title II) emergency food assistance program in Kenya, overseeing all aspects of program design, implementation, and delivery to vulnerable populations, including those in arid and semi‑arid lands.
Key responsibilities
- Lead development, implementation and consolidation of the Food for Peace program, ensuring alignment with USDA requirements and emergency food security objectives.
- Serve as primary liaison to USDA/FAS, the U.S. Embassy, NDMA, line ministries and humanitarian coordination platforms.
- Coordinate with public, private and NGO partners to maximize impact and avoid duplication.
- Provide strategic and technical leadership for commodity management, including procurement planning, port clearance, inland transport, storage and distribution.
- Oversee program quality, MEAL compliance, budgeting, financial tracking and donor reporting.
- Manage senior programming and operations staff, including coaching, performance assessments and recruitment.
- Monitor security risks, ensure staff safety protocols and mitigate operational risks.
Required profile
- Extensive experience managing large‑scale USG‑funded humanitarian food assistance programs.
- Proven leadership in emergency response, security management and multi‑stakeholder coordination.
- Strong background in commodity logistics and grant compliance (2 CFR 200).
- Ability to oversee financial management, budgeting and donor reporting.
