Civil & Structural Engineer – Development Control

About the role

Tatu City’s Development Control Company is seeking a Civil & Structural Engineer to provide engineering expertise for planning, reviewing and executing civil and structural projects. The role covers the full project lifecycle from client briefing through design, on‑site inspections and post‑construction evaluation, ensuring compliance with TCL standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare client briefs, technical drawings and reports for DCC and other assigned projects.
• Conduct peer reviews of civil, structural and MEP development plans on behalf of DCC.
• Perform quality control by verifying material integrity and interpreting design calculations for pressures, loads and stresses.
• Brief clients, developers and contractors on TCL development standards and approval procedures.
• Carry out regular site visits to inspect technical compliance and monitor scope changes.
• Provide technical guidance and supervise construction activities, recommending materials, equipment and tools.
• Liaise with government agencies to secure timely approvals and licences.
• Develop and update internal strategies, policies and monitoring procedures to maintain high development standards.

Required profile

• BSc in Civil and Structural Engineering and registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience across industrial, residential, high‑rise and mixed‑use projects.
• Proven track record of delivering projects and driving quality assurance and control.
