About the role
The Communications Specialist will be based in Nairobi and will support the Kenya Blue Economy Skills Training Program (KBEST). Reporting to the Senior Technical Advisor, the role ensures the effective implementation of KBEST’s communication strategy and enhances visibility of the program across Kenya.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development and updating of the KBEST Communication Strategy and associated workplans.
- Implement the communication strategy, producing programmatic and organizational messaging, branding, and content.
- Write and edit external communications, including outreach campaigns aimed at youth, parents, caregivers, and industry stakeholders.
- Coordinate communication activities with implementing partners, provide support to partner institutions, and develop impact stories and communication materials.
- Engage with media and serve as the liaison with the Ministry of Education, aligning activities with the National Communications and Advocacy Strategy.
- Travel within Kenya as required to support program activities.
Required profile
- Experience in strategic communication planning and implementation.
- Strong writing and editing skills for external communications.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple partners and stakeholders, including government ministries.
- Willingness to travel within Kenya.
