Compliance Officer – Roving

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) Kenya is seeking a Compliance Officer who will rove between its field offices in Kakuma, Hagadera, and potentially support sites in Lamu and Garissa. The role ensures that IRC programmes operate with integrity, adhere to local laws, donor regulations and internal policies, while fostering an ethical culture across the country programme.

Key responsibilities

• Screen and assess incoming compliance complaints and determine appropriate actions.
• Provide guidance to staff and implementing partners on Kenyan legal requirements, IRC policies and donor contractual obligations.
• Conduct regular compliance monitoring, audits and risk assessments across field locations.
• Develop and deliver training on ethical conduct, anti‑fraud measures and reporting procedures.
• Prepare and submit compliance reports to senior management and donors.
• Support the Compliance Coordinator in implementing proactive prevention strategies.

Required profile

• University degree in Law, Business Administration, International Relations or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in compliance, audit or regulatory functions, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
• Strong understanding of Kenyan legal and regulatory environment.
• Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently between field offices and work in challenging environments.
